The winter months can be long, dark, and boring. The cold weather, short days can lead to unhealthy habits like overeating, spending too much time on the internet, or sleeping too much. So, you have to plan some winter activities so that they do not spend too much time on their electronics. These pieces of advice come from a caregiver in preschool Torrance, CA.

Just because we are in the depths of winter, it does not mean that we along with our children will remain shut indoor. Encourage them to go outside wearing proper winter clothes and find fun winter activities for the slopes, trails, ice rink, and backyard for children of all ages. Wrap them in warm clothes and take them to various winter activities. Different activities and exposure to sunshine will help them remain healthy and will save them from common cabin fever. This fever occurs when we confined ourselves in the home for extended periods and this is very common in winter. Symptoms are boredom, irritability, restlessness, anxiety, and loneliness.

To get rid of this cabin fever in winter a few common winter activities are needed. Some winter activities are given below which help children to remain will fit in winter. Caregivers of a reputed Montessori in Torrance, CA say that school authorities and parents should try their best to keep children busy this winter.

Kids will find it enlightening to build a snowman. Scoop up a handful of snow first. Try to make a snowball out of it. Make a tight snowball. Roll the ball along the ground to make the bottom section. Set the snowball on the ground. The snow has to be wet enough to be sticky but it cannot be slushy. The other factor is the amount of snow. If there is just dusting, it will be difficult to roll enough snow together to build a snowman. Wait till there are at least a few inches of the white stuff. The classic snowman is composed of three balls stacked vertically bottom being the biggest. Building a snowman apparently becomes fun but, it is an excellent muscle exercise for your kid.

Make snow angels with your children. After the first dusting of snow, it is mandatory that you put your snow gear on and run outside and make a snow angel. Find the place where it is covered with fresh deep snow. Lay down on your back. Extend your arms straight. Move your arms and legs. Stand up carefully and enjoy. Teach your children how to make a perfect snow angel. Making snow angel perfectly is a wise training on body balance.

Snowball fight is another popular winter game. It is a physical game in which balls of snow are thrown to hit somebody else. This is a popular game among children during winter when there is sufficient snowfall.

Strolling in the woods is another enchanting outdoor activity during winter. The wood draws out attention in autumn with its vibrant colors, but do not miss out on the beautiful winter woodland walks. Often the lack of foliage opens up another side to our woods and you can glimpse of views you would not normally see.
